Didn’t sleep so good last night, and my plan to get up at 6:30am failed. I got to bed around midnight. Woke up around 1:30 then fell back to sleep (end of first cycle). Can’t remember if I woke up around 3, but then I did wake up around 4:30 (end of third cycle). For some reason, I couldn’t get back to sleep. I layed there quite a while, thought maybe using the bathroom would help, but it didn’t do the trick. I’m sure I dozed in and out, but never got back into a cycle. Ended up dragging my butt out around 8:00am. Since it was getting late, I didn’t row, but I did at least have some breakfast (bowl of Cheerios and a banana), first breakfast in a long time.
So why couldn’t I get back to sleep after the 4:30 cycle? I remember doing some math when I woke up to see if my cycle calculations were still holding true, and then realizing that after another cycle, it would be 6:00, not 6:30. I then realized that my math was off earlier when I figured I was going to bed at 12am, and waking up at 6:30am. My guess is that I usually go to bed at 12am, but it generally takes me a bit to fall asleep, so I’m probably falling asleep around 12:30am. Anyway, maybe it was all the thinking that got my brain jumpstarted, and made it harder to transition back into the next cycle. In any case, I’ll try again tonight and see what happens. I may need to lock my cats out as they have a tendency to either keep me up, or wake me up. If I’m gonna cut the amount of sleep I get, I want the sleep I do get to be of the highest quality!
