I went bowling today, first time in well over a month. I had purchased a new ball after league ended this spring, a hooking ball (most people don’t know that those bowlers that make the ball curve use a ball designed to curve), and so far the practice I had done was very promising. Well today didn’t disappoint. I started slow, the first game was just practice, I didn’t even know what I scored until I looked later (118). The second game I started trying, and got a 164, not bad since my average last season was 143. Third game I got 4 strikes in a row, rare for me, and if I wouldn’t have choked in the last frame, could have broken 200, but instead got a 199, easily in my top 5 of all time. By the forth game I was in the zone. I got a spare in the first frame, but in the second and third I got strikes. In the forth frame I got a 9 and then missed the damn spare. Nothing special so far. In the fifth frame I got a strike, and continued the rest of the game, 8 strikes in a row! Can’t say I’ve ever done that before. I ended up with a 257! Even though it’s by far my best game ever (previous best was 235 last summer) I couldn’t help but wish I could have just picked up that one spare, which by my math would have given me a 278. One lousy pin away from a 278. Anyway, I am grateful I was able to get the 257, pretty amazing for me. The next game I got a 150, and finally a 152 the last game. So, all in all, every game (except the first practice game) was over my average, and of course two of them were spectacular by my standards. So it was a great day!
