The Pokémon Go Community Day is a reoccurring, monthly event highlighting a specific Pokémon that encourages players to get out and play together worldwide.

Each event will see increased spawns of the Pokémon for a limited time, and give them an exclusive Community Day move for their final evolution - and several other bonuses you can take advantage of during the event itself.

This page features not only the next Community Day date and time and highlighted Pokémon, but also a Community Day list of all previous events and their respective exclusive moves in Pokémon Go.

What is Community Day in Pokémon Go?

Community Day usually takes place on one weekend day every month and lasts a total of three hours.

As well as increasing spawns of the highlighted Pokémon, there are bonuses during that period of time - such as double XP, Stardust or Lure Modules - as additional incentives to get out there and playing, including the highlighted Pokémon having an increased chance of being shiny, and the ability to reach the highlighted Pokémon's evolution an exclusive move.

It's a great way to get resources and a rare version of the highlighted Pokémon, but it's as the name suggests, is a great way to team up with other players.

Community Days are a great opportunity to raid and trade with others - at a responsible and safe distance, of course.Watch on YouTube

You may find other Pokémon Go players will be out and about with you, which might make it easier to co-ordinate completing Raids or doing Trades, so keep that in mind during the period.

Pokémon Go's next Community Day: June Community Day date and time explained

Bonus 8: Between 2pm to 10pm (local hours), Trades require 50% less Stardust.

Bonus 9: Event-themed stickers earned by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts or purchased from the in-game store

Bonus 10: Event-exclusive field research tasks with rewards including Goomy encounters, Stardust and Great Balls

Bonus 11: PokéStop Showcases for Goomy

Exclusive move for evolutions: Thunder Punch (Charged Attack) for Goodra

Bonus Raids: From 5pm to 10pm on the Community Day, you'll be able to battle Sliggoo in four-star raids. If you defeat one of these Pokémon in a four-star raid, then Goomy will appear around the Gym which hosted it for 30 minutes and will have the same increased shiny rate as those which appeared during the Community Day.

These raids can not be joined using a Remote Raid Pass.

How useful is this Community Day?

One of the main reasons why you should partake in this Community Day is the chance to get a Goodra that knows the Thunder Punch Charged Attack. Even without knowing this move, its worth your time catching Goomy to evolve it into a Goodra as it roughly has a 119+ attack. While a Goomy isn't one of the best Dragon-type Pokémon you can get, its evolved form that knows this powerful move is really one of the few reasons to do this Community Day.

That being said, the extra chance you've got at catching a Shiny Goomy throughout the event is something to pay attention to - especially if you're trying to fill out your Shiny collection.

Pokémon Go's next Community Day Classic: June Community Day Classic date and time explained

Here's everything you need to know about the June Community Day Classic:

Highlighted Pokémon: Cyndaquil

Date: Saturday 22nd June 2024

Time: 2pm to 5pm local time

Bonus 1: Double XP for catching Pokémon

Bonus 2: Double Stardust for catching Pokémon

Bonus 3: Lure Modules activated during the event will last three hours

Bonus 4: Incense activated during the event will last three hours (doesn't include Daily Adventure Incense)

Bonus 5: For 1,350 PokéCoins you can get 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, five Lucky Eggs and one Elite Charged TM from the in-game shop

Bonus 6: Pokémon photobombing Go Snapshot

Bonus 7: For 480 PokéCoins you can get 30 Ultra Balls, one Incense, one Lura Module and three Super Incubators from the in-game shop

Bonus 9: PokéStop showcases will happen at different PokéStops throughout Community Day Classic

Bonus 10: Catch Cyndaquil to earn Stardust, Great Balls and additional Cyndaquil encounters

Bonus 11: Evolve Quilava to get a Typhlosion that knows Blast Burn (Charged Attack)

How useful is this Community Day?

One of the main reasons why you should partake in this Community Day is the chance to get several Cyndquil encounters. The more of them you catch and transfer into one single Cyndaquil, the more Candy you'll get to evolve this Pokémon into Typhlosion. But, it's not any Typhlosion, it's one that knows the Blast Burn move which makes an already strong Pokémon even stronger.

Cyndaquil is a useful fire-type don't get me wrong, but the real focus of this Community Day Classic is how easy it can make it for you to evolve them to their most powerful form. Typhlosion has a max CP of 3,266 with 223 Attack and 173 Defense at its basic level. When you add in its extra moves, such as Blast Burn, this is definitely a Pokémon you want to add to your inventory.

How to prepare for Pokémon Go Community Day

First of all, the secret allure of Community Day is the introduction of a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon, which will have a boosted rate during the event. That, combined with the increased spawns, makes it easy to get a a handful of shinies across the six hours.

Remember, unlike high IV Pokémon, shinies don't appear in the same place for everyone like high-IV Pokémon - there's a random chance of each one you encounter could be a shiny. If you're struggling, try 'shiny checking', by tapping a Pokémon, then backing out without catching, then moving on to the next.

Second, there will be bonus Field Research. Community Days also have their own special Field Research tasks based on the specific Pokémon the day is highlighting. The rewards are usually just consumable items - Berries and the like - but it's an additional thing to complete as you play.

Third, every Community Day offers 3-Hour Lures. This is the perfect day to catch as many Pokémon as physically possible, and with the increased spawn rate, increase your chances of finding a shiny.

The best way to take advantage of these bonuses is to find a set of PokéStops that are in quick walking distance or one another. You can then set up a Lure Module in one (or in multiple) and then walk between the PokéStops; taking advantage of the Lure and ensuring that you don't run out of Poké Balls or Berries.

It's also an ideal time to experiment with either a Glacial Lure, Mossy Lure or Magnetic Lure Modules. These special lures attract a specific type of Pokémon depending on your chosen Lure. If you wanted to catch Water or Ice Pokémon, for example, then you would use a Glacial Lure Module. These specialised Lure Modules cost 200 PokéCoins from the in-game shop..

There are also specific bonuses for each Community Day, from reduced hatching distance to increased Stardust and XP. Even without the bonuses, remember Community Day is an opportunity to catch a lot of creatures in a short space of time, useful if you want to get through the backlog of Eggs in your roster, or put on a Lucky Egg or Star Piece to increase your gains from catches.

Remember, if there is a deduced hatch rate, you only get bonus on Eggs you put into incubators during Community Day bonus hours. If you have an egg in an incubator before the event starts, it's hatch distance still stay the same. Also, if you don't hatch it before the event ends, it will stay that reduced distance until it does - so worth cramming one last one in before the event finishes!

Also before the event itself, it may also be worth stockpiling Pinap Berries and Great or Ultra Balls. The Pinaps will increase your Candy gains - useful for evolving and powering up after the event ends - and you can really burn through Poké Balls over the course of the event. If you run out, then spin PokéStops or complete the newly added Field Research that appears.

Finally, make sure you evolve the highlighted Pokémon to its third evolution to get an exclusive move. More of this in the following section...

The Shared Skies Season is live! You can now complete the Field Research tasks, get some steps in to do the Shared Skies research steps, and take part in the Stadium Sights event! Don't forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.

Pokémon Go Community Day list: All exclusive moves list and how they work

Every featured Pokémon during a Community Day weekend will offer an exclusive move when evolved to its final evolution.

Not only are these exclusive to these weekends, but they are more often than not the best move their third evolution can offer, and can propel them up the meta.

You have two hours after the Community Day ends to evolve the Pokémon to get their move, so don't worry about having to sort through your collection during the six hour window.

If you miss out on evolving the Pokémon once Community Day weekend is over to get the exclusive move, don't panic - you can use an Elite TM, or wait until December, where a special weekend will give you another chance to catch and evolve that previous year's Community Day Pokémon.

Pokémon Go Community Day Classic list: All exclusive moves list

Community Day Classic events in Pokémon Go highlight a past Community Day Pokémon and, just like the regular event, offers you a chance to get a Pokémon with an exclusive attack.

The rules for earning this exclusive move are exactly the same too - you must reach the final evolution for the chosen Pokémon and said evolution must take place during the event or within the first two hours after it ends.

These moves may not always be the best attack for this Pokémon, but, if want it and miss out on the event, you can always use an Elite TM on the final evolution to teach them the move.
